Moto Polisemico
May 28th, 2008

Moto Polisemico is the title of the outdoor installation I presented as student with other collegues in 2006. The installation was part of the exhibition “Migrazioni in Piazza“ in Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti in Florence.
Moto Polisemico is a social experiment where people were interacting with the installation trought the shadows generated by their bodies.
An huge white projection (12 x 3 m) covered one side of the square. People walking in front of the projection were generating big shadows on the opposite wall. Our video was set to show from time to time random pre-recorded (and generally crazy) shadows. Those were visually mixed with the real ones creating an interesting effect and very curious reactions from the people in the square.
Children were particurally interested and had fun finding different ways of playing with the installation.
